Learn how your faith can be a force for justice in our state on Saturday, October 17, as Vermont Interfaith Action teaches the basics of faith-based community organizing.

VIA is a five-year-old coalition of congregations in Barre, Burlington and Montpelier that includes Catholics, Protestants, Jews, Unitarians and other people of conscience, whose goal is bringing our shared religious values into the arena of public policy to ensure the Green Mountain State offers the opportunity for a dignified life to all its citizens.

The day long workshop (10:00 am - 3:00 pm, with registration starting at 9:30) will be held at the Bethany United Church of Christ, 30 North Main Street, Randolph, and will include an introduction to the VIA model of mobilizing grassroots support through one-to-one relationships, as well as tools for targeting and researching issues and organizing meetings with public officials to hold elected representatives accountable.

Lunch is included with the $10 registration fee.  Please send your check payable to Vermont Interfaith Action, along with your name and congregational affiliation, to 152 Pearl St., Burlington, VT 05401 before October 7 to reserve your space.  For more information, call 802-651-8889, email office@viavt.org or visit the VIA website at www.viavt.org.
